Metro Vancouver's first ever brunch festival launches this weekend

When it comes to meal options between breakfast and lunch, locals will tell you that there’s a whole brunch.

It’s a popular meal in this city. Brunch is so popular, in fact, that Vancouver now has an entire food festival dedicated to the mid-morning meal.

The first ever Brunch Affair Food Festival will be held this Saturday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at The Pipe Shop Venue at The Shipyards in North Vancouver.

When it comes to options, the newly launched festival’s internationally inspired brunch menu leaves all other brunch menus in the dust.

According to a news release, “Brunch Affair features something for every brunch connoisseur — from decadent pastries and desserts by the talented Thomas Haas and mouth-watering Venezuelan vegan arepas by El Coroto Kitchen to ARC’s Antonio Romero Casado’s authentic Spanish paella and Rosemary Rocksalt’s scrumptious Montreal-style bagels.”

To wash down your breakfast tacos, veggie hash and whatever else is on the menu, attendees will also be able to enjoy local craft beer, cider, wine and cocktails.

Food and drink vendors announced include:

• A Good Egg by Chef Harley
• ARC Master Ham Carver
• Barrelhouse Brine
• Canuck Place
• El Coroto Kitchen
• Finch & Barley
• Fuud
• Goodridge & Williams Distilling
• JN & Z
• Parkside Brewery
• Rosemary Rocksalt
• Sunday Cider
• The Good Stuff
• Thomas Haas

Once brunch ends, the music begins. Dini Dinicolo and Dave Phillips will perform at the Saturday evening after-party, which runs from 5 to 10 p.m., coinciding with the free outdoor Summer Sessions Concerts in Shipbuilders’ Square.

General admission at the door is $5, though admission is free for children under 12. Food tokens cost $4; buying three early-bird food tokens online includes the price of admission. Partial proceeds from the event will be donated to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

And if you can’t make it this Saturday, you haven’t missed your chance: the Brunch Affair Food Festival returns to the same spot at the same time on Saturday, Aug. 12, and Sunday, Aug. 13.
