PERU Two drugs mule Michaella McCollum has been spotted showing off a £1,000 designer handbag while out on a tour of The Beatles museum in Liverpool.
The 24-year-old was seen walking around the city’s Albert Dock on Monday afternoon on a visit to the north west from her home in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The former jailbird has made no secret of her desire to become a reality TV star – and we revealed she is in talks to be in the next series of Big Brother.
McCollum — who also stands to make £50,000 from reality shows and a book deal — was spotted with a Yves Saint Laurent bag, which normally retails at around £1,020.
Earlier this month she was seen carrying a more budget-friendly bag – when she was seen leaving Sports Direct in Belfast.
Michaella returned home to Northern Ireland six months ago after spending three years in prison in Peru along with her pal Melissa Reid, also 24.
Last month she was photographed several times enjoying her freedom by sunning herself on the beaches of Spain.
It was the first time she has been on holiday since she was released from prison in Peru.
She was photographed in swimwear and revealing gym kit on a trip to Majorca — which showbiz sources said was a bid to raise her profile and launch a career as a reality star.
Earlier this month we told how Michaella and Melissa are in “advance talks” to appear in the new series of Big Brother, which has a pairs theme.
A source revealed: “Michaella has made no secret of her dream to become a reality TV star.
“She’s spent the last six months trying to build up her profile and her image – and just days ago she was even snapped on the beach in a very revealing swimming costume.
“It’s all part of her bid to get her name out there in the lead up to returning to our screens – this time on an entertainment show, not BBC news.
“Big Brother producers have been chatting to her about getting her on the next series of the show, which is a pairs theme.
“Her accomplice Melissa is less excited by the whole showbiz world but, because of the pairs theme, producers think they would be the ideal signing.
“They think the girls will help to stir up some excitement and chatter for the new series, as well as bring some glamour and drama.”
Michaella was previously in talks to join Celebrity Big Brother after she was released from a Peruvian jail last April.
She's not afraid to be in the public eye having been snapped earlier this year supporting Ireland during their clash with France wearing just a rugby shirt and towering heels.
Michaella, from Northern Ireland, and Melissa, from Glasgow, were caught trying to smuggle 11kg of cocaine worth £1.5million from Peru to gangs in Spain.
They spent three years inside a mosquito-infested cell with scores of other women.
They claimed they had been forced into carrying the drugs by an armed gang and only agreed because their lives were threatened.
McCollum said she was on a four-day ketamine and magic mushroom-fuelled bender in Ibiza when she decided to smuggle cocaine into Spain.
After a “Cockney guy Jake” offered to help her make money, she agreed and began her £4,000 task.
She met fellow mule Reid in Majorca at the airport, and the pair flew to Lima posing as tourists, even visiting popular tourist destination Machu Picchu as part of the ruse.
They then picked up 32 packets of cocaine and packed them inside their suitcases.
The pair didn’t get far however – a plain-clothes police officer searched their bags at Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport, and the gig was up.
