The producers behind the film
had been trying to exploit government rules by claiming they were making a £19 million budget film with A List Hollywood stars in order to claim back £1.3 million in film tax credit and £1.5 million in VAT.
However when the scam was rumbled, the arrested crooks tried to cover their tracks by making the film for real – on a budget of £84,000 with Andrea and ex-EastEnders star Marc Bannerman duped into playing roles.
Andrea played a bisexual character named Dr Audrey Grey London Knights Productions
The five bogus film producers were subsequently charged with conspiracy to cheat the public revenue and jailed in 2013 with sentences ranging between five and six and-a-half years.
However the film looks set to come back to haunt Andrea as a new “directors cut” edition is being teased for release this year.
At the time of her casting,
Andrea had gushed about her involvement, telling The Sun: “I think people will be really shocked. I’ve got quite a main part. I play the complete opposite of what I normally am. It’s very different and I’m quite scary.”
The star added: “I didn’t go to any acting classes. I just threw myself into it. I thought, ‘Why not? If I’m rubbish then who cares?’ I might be pants and absolutely awful. But if I’m all right then I would love to do it again because it was such fun.”
The film actually won a 2012 Silver Ace award at the Las Vegas film festival – but the gong was later revoked when the real life crimes were exposed.
