But baffled followers responded by telling Lawson to “up her game”.
The recipe consists of halved cherry tomatoes with a homemade salad cream dressing, made from mustard, milk and egg.
Commenting on Facebook, Jalal McGhie said: “Come on Nigella Lawson hardly a salad, more of a combination of the remaining items in the fridge.”
Chris Boyd wrote: “Some chopped up tomatoes with some dressing? You need to your game love you can do much better than that and you know it.
And Samantha Wallis said: “I REALLY hope this is a joke!? This is a dish of cherry tomatoes cut in half, with a squirt of salad cream…get over youself for goodness sake!!!”
Others defended the “simple” recipe, which Nigella described as “unexpected heaven”.
Rhonda Maynard wrote: "This sounds like it will be a nice addition to my next summer party - love it."
The glamorous chef, known for her simple and indulgent recipes, also rattled readers with today's offering.
Nigella posted a link to her Spaghetti alla Carbonara recipe containing cream - infuriating Italians who blasted it as "absolutely forbidden".
Giulia Diane C said: "Nigella you are a wonderful woman but your recipes are the DEATH of Italian recipes, literally! NO CREAM IN CARBONARA NEVER, only eggs.
And Raffaele Galardi wrote: "The cream in the Carbonara is an outrage to Italian cuisine."
