Lionel Messi to agree long-term Barcelona deal ‘in next few hours’ – after vowing to spend rest of his life with new wife
LIONEL MESSI is set to commit his long-term future to Barcelona – after vowing to spend the rest of his life with his childhood sweetheart.
The Argentina superstar, 30, last week married stunning Antonela Roccuzzo in what was billed the “wedding of the century”.
Now, according to Marca, a deal has been agreed which will see him stay at the Nou Camp until 2021.
It will reportedly be done and dusted in the next few hours, putting an end to any transfer saga surrounding the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Messi’s new contract includes a staggering £264million release clause.
He will reportedly sign the newly drawn up contract next week once he returns from his honeymoon with Antonela, 29, in Antigua and Barbuda.
Moneybags Manchester City tried to lure Messi to the Etihad in a £100m move in January.
But last month, City chief Ferran Soriano gave up hope in clinching the Barca maestro.
When asked whether Messi could be a City player, he said: “No. I don’t think so.
“I know Messi very well. He and his family are my good friends.
