Usain Bolt blamed his slow start after finishing third in the 100m final at the World Athletics Championships on Saturday.

The Jamaican sprint legend had been the strong favourite coming into the race but finished behind winner Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman who came second.

Bolt finished in a time of 9.95sec, 0.03secs behind the controversial winner who has a history of doping offences.

It was a hugely disappointing end to his unrivalled 100m career, with Bolt retiring after London 2017.
