On 11 April 2017 we published copy provided by a reputable news agency which reported that a user of Myprotein’s protein shake powder claimed to have found a dead mouse in a packet of it and that he blamed the manufacturer for putting his health at risk.
Independent investigators’ opinions as to the time of death of the mouse mean it died at least 17 days after the purchase of the powder. Myprotein has also stated that its production process involves filtering the powder through a 3mm sieve and passing it through a filling head which would have disfigured or mutilated a mouse and prevented it from entering a packet.
We are happy to make clear Myprotein’s conclusion that the mouse did not enter the powder during the production process and must have happened while the powder was in the possession of the customer.
