The Denver Broncos selected Garett Bolles, a 6-foot-5, 297-pound offensive lineman out of Utah, with their No. 20 pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft Thursday.
The Broncos entered the draft with 10 picks and a list of priorities, topped by bolstering their offensive line. Bolles was selected after only one year of FBS experience; he started his collegiate career at Snow College, where he earned two junior college All-America honors and turned his life around after a difficult childhood. He transferred to Utah in 2016 and was named first-team All-Pac 12 as the Utes’ starting left tackle.
The Broncos met with Bolles at the NFL scouting combine, then hosted him on a top-30 visit in April.
