“Blade Runner” fans got a lift Monday when Warner Bros. released the official trailer for the sci-fi sequel due in theaters Oct. 6.
The film stars Ryan Gosling as a new blade runner whose pursuit of a dark secret leads him to an ex-blade runner played by Harrison Ford, reprising his role from the 1982 original.
The film also stars Jared Leto — who kind of steals the show as a deranged creator of replicants — Robin Wright, Ana de Armas and Mackenzie Davis, among others, and was directed by Denis Villeneuve.

During a Facebook Live discussion timed to Monday’s trailer release, Ford summed up a few of the differences between the two movies, despite the cloak of secrecy that has surrounded the new movie.
“The original film postulated a technology that in many ways we have surpassed, but in other ways we are not quite there,” said Ford. “This film does take into account the 30 years that have passed and references technologies that are in place now and acknowledges some of the ethical considerations technology presents us with. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”
