College football fans are furious that ESPN is using Taylor Swift's new song for promos

So, in case you didn’t notice, Taylor Swift released a new song last week, and it’s, uh, something. College football fans might get to know the song pretty well this weekend … and possibly over the next four months.

ESPN promoted Saturday’s epic season-opening matchup between Alabama and Florida State with Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” This is a real commercial that has been airing on TV the past few days.

We’ve reached out to ESPN too see if the network will use the song for the entire season and will update with the response. But at the very least, “Look What You Made Me Do” appears to be the song that will hype up Saturday night’s game, and college football fans are already taking notice.

That’s not a good start.

It’s been three years, and I still haven’t completely gotten “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy out of my head after ESPN repeatedly played the song during the 2014 season. It was so overplayed that the band actually apologized for it.

There is an easy solution, though. Just bring back the band-music promos. Those were great.
